The Medicine Seller from Mononoke

Debuted: Katsucon 2008

The Medicine Seller travels around old Japan solving supernatural problems. It's a creepy and interesting series with lots of references to little-known Japanese spirits.

I had a lot of fun making this costume. The colored areas on the kimono are appliqued with white satin stitching. Most of the fabrics are iridescent. Some of the items are from my kitsuke collection (like the geta, black tabi socks, obijime and the shibori pink obiage.)

The white makeup is TVWHITE Kryolan makeup from http://cosworx.com/ (always so smooth!) The red is from my maiko makeup. :)

I'd like to make some of his accessories later, but the costume itself is complete.
