California Twin Baby Shower

We held my second twin shower at my house in California. It was hosted by my good friend Crystal.  Together we made a bunch of ridiculous pink food. It was really fun!

I felt really super grateful that so many of my friends were able to come out. I have awesome friends.

These cucumber sandwiches by Crystal are super easy! It’s just sliced cucumber over whipped cream cheese on Hawaiian bread! The cucumbers aren’t marinated in vinegar or anything, they’re just plain cucumbers. Try it, it’s super yummy.

These sugar cookies were made with Williams and Sonoma Message-in-a-Cookie Cutters. You can slide in the letters to make almost any message you want. I like the classic shapes, too.

We also made pink dyed deviled eggs. This is WAY easy. You just dye the whites after hardboiling them and then put the deviled egg part back in. Full directions here.

We’d saved the cake topper from my Charleston shower and I reused it on this lemon cake I made.

The inside of the cake was different layers of pink cake. I basically took two boxes of cake and I made one box bright pink (with red food coloring) and the other box a pale pink and then stacked and iced them. Super easy!

Another fun thing we made were chocolate peanutbutter cake pops! I’d always wanted to try making cake pops and my mom bought me this Babycakes cake pop maker. It works great. You can cook the cake balls in about 4 minutes! It comes with recipes exactly the right serving size to fit in the maker, too. I tried Wilton’s Candy Melt first, but it didn’t work very smoothly. After some googling online, I tried Mercken’s Candy Coatings with Paramount Crystals instead and it made MUCH smoother candy coating on the cake pops. Keep in mind that I’ve never made cake pops before and I’ve never melted chocolate before. It really wasn’t that hard! I just melted the candy chips in the microwave with some paramount crystals and then dipped the cake balls in it…!

We also had delicious fruit pies made by my friend Beth, caprese bites, some fruit and chicken salad sandwiches and cheese and crackers.

Crystal’s daughter Kaelyn passed out on the sofa in the princess dress I made her. :)

Some of the pink decor.

A lot of the flowers were gotten for pretty cheap (70% off) at Joann’s since they were bought now in summer and they were considered “spring” clearout items!

Crystal set up some white onesies and permanent fabric pens and paints for people to draw on!

Some of the onesies people made!

Kaelyn helping me unwrap presents.

Way too many cute presents from everyone!!

Michelle made newborn bunny hats! I can’t stand how cute they are!

Crystal’s mom made tiny Doctor Who Dalek dresses!

Oh my! I feel full just looking at your spread. Both of your baby showers look wonderful and you can completely feel the love from friends and family! Also, it’s very awesome that your babies are stepping out on the right geeklie foot! Disney, Sci-Fi, and superheroes???? Adorable!

All the onesies are awesome but that Yoda one made me laugh out loud. Brilliant! Who made it?
