Disneyland Halloween Rapunzel Costume, Flynn Costume & the Good Fairies

Rapunzel costume Disney Halloween

Photos from our trip to Disneyland Halloween in our Rapunzel costume, Flynn costume and Good Fairy costumes!

Last weekend I went to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Disneyland with a lot of my friends. I wore my Rapunzel costume and my husband wore his Flynn costume. (You can read about how I made my Rapunzel costume and wig here and how I made my husband’s Flynn costume here. ) We go almost every year because we enjoy it so much! The main draw is that this is the one time of year that adults can dress not only in costumes at the Disney parks, but specifically, in Disney costumes.

Kids are so cute, they really think you are the real Disney character! It’s really hard not to be in a really great mood when kids are so adorable. Even adults thought we were cool. One big guy told me that “even though he didn’t like Halloween” my Rapunzel costume was awesome. And a lot of people thought my hair was real (Which kinda blows my mind, because to me, just the massive size of it signifies it to be fake! But I’m glad it doesn’t look too fake to other people!)

The only negative thing is that Disney’s rules are that you don’t allow any other guests to take photos WITH you. The problem with this is that it’s hard to explain to a very young child who is really excited, why you can’t let her take a photo with you. It’s really too bad. We would explain that we weren’t the “real” character, but you still can’t take pictures with them. One little boy just wanted to hug me, at least that was allowed. 🙂 Otherwise, it’s a blast, though!

I got partially dressed into my Rapunzel costume in the car. We were let into the park at 4 pm, so a fair amount of non-Halloween-Party guests were still in the park. The really great thing about being let in at 4 pm is that you can get a few daylight photos with things in the park before the sun goes down! SO AWESOME. Even though I was really busy at work, I worked late other days just so I could get this day off so I could go to Disneyland at 4pm. DORK!

Just walking down mainstreet was a lot of fun.
Judy as Merriweather, me in my Rapunzel costume, Cheryll as Flora and AJ as Fauna. (The Good Fairies from Sleeping Beauty)

Here’s us ATTEMPTING to get a group shot in front of the castle before we get mobbed with kids.

Had to get some photos of Mitch’s new Flynn costume! Finally finished after a year of procrastinating and busy-ness!

I wanted a shot with the castle and my Rapunzel costume, too…

It’s actually a lot easier to get a castle shot if you go off to the side of the castle a bit…

Just walking around various places in the park is amusing when you’re walking with the three Good Fairies. They’re just so ADORABLE. Adults would squeal and in a high pitched voice exclaim, “Flora, Fauna and Merriweather!”

HAMMINESS ENSUES

I love wearing my Rapunzel costume so much!

The sun started to go down as we went past Big Thunder Railroad, surprisingly fitting for a few Tangled shots?
“They never get my nose right!”

Kind of a fun shot to see the back of my Rapunzel costume a bit.

White man’s overbite!

After the sun goes down we ended up in the dancing area. Line dancing and hoopskirts, always funny.

On the Indiana Jones Ride. 😀

We made it to the Princess Faire, because I always want to get a photo with them, but very seldom take the time to. We got a photo with Belle and Ariel! This is the park Ariel and then my Rapunzel costume and my husband’s Flynn costume.

Look how tall I am next to the park Belle! haha!

… but even though we waited through two princess rotations, we didn’t get to see Rapunzel. They said I had to wait another half an hour to see her and I just couldn’t spend the time, I thought. Oh well…

Just then the fireworks started! WOO!

MAKE IT PINK!

You can see video of Merriweather and Flora doing “magic” here.

Group photo!

Needs more friends! Annie as Mulan, Kimi as Minnie Mouse!

The Good Fairies squish into a tea cup. SO CUUUUTE.

Indy and Marion in a teacup!

The Good Fairies bless the monkey baby!

Another group photo with friends! Crystal, Derek and their daughter as Indiana Jones, Marion and the monkey, Ash and Ludick as Jasmine and Aladdin, Ali as Belle and of course my husband and I in our Rapunzel costume (s). (You can see pretty photos of them here (Jasmine/Aladdin) and here (Belle) by Annie. Ash, Ludick and Ali ended up in the parade this year! cool!

At some point when we were walking around with Crystal and Derek, one of the Disneyland cast members started talking to Mitch (Flynn). After a bit, he asked Mitch what rides we’d been on, we told him we’d been on a couple and he offered to get us on whatever “long line” ride we wanted through the back way! Wow! D: Since we had a little kid with us, we decided on Peter Pan (one of my favorites. I never get tired of the sparkling lights over NeverNeverLand.) Thanks random cast member guy! We didn’t have time to go on that many rides with all the people we were with so it was really nice not to have to wait in line for one. 🙂

We also went on It’s a Small World, and on the way out I passed by those adorable Disney Animators’ Collection toddler princess dolls. I’d resisted them so far, but this time I really REALLY looked at them. The drawings by Glen Keane and Mark Henn (lead Disney animators) caught my attention and then I realized that they’d actually used animator drawings to design the dolls’ faces! OH MY GOD! I’d been lamenting for months about how I thought most of the Rapunzel merchandise was a little not fabulous… D: HAD TO BUY. I ended up getting Rapunzel, Ariel and Belle, though all of them are really cute (Aurora and Pocahontas are pretty amazingly adorable and I love that Mulan and Jasmine are wearing what little girls in those countries would wear.) You can watch an interview with Mark Henn and Glen Keane about the dolls here and you can buy some of the dolls online on Disney’s site (and there’s another interview video there). Selection varies from Disney Store to Disney Store and some are selling out.

Here’s a shot of two of them on my desk at work.
I really don’t buy many “toys” anymore. I just have too many and not enough room, but I love these.

While I was kneeling to stare at the dolls, a little girl apparently was staring at me! And then she came up and just touched my arm. CUTEST THING EVER.

I’ll end up with the Castle at night. 🙂
My only regret is that I would have liked to have gotten a photo with the park’s official Flynn and Rapunzel, and I would have liked to have gone for more than one night… but we just didn’t have time! See you next year, Disneyland!

why iz Dizzy so parnoid. I would be good p.r. for them . OH I FERGIT THEY ARE A GREEDY HEARTLESS CORP AND TRYING TO MAKE MONEY ON PHOTOS THEY CAN TAKE AND SELL TO THE GUEST. ME BAD ..L.O.L.

They have a decent reason, actually, because if people think you are the “real” Rapunzel, etc, and then you did something “bad”, then Disney could possibly be held liable. I do wish though if you explain that you are not a Disney employee, that they’d let you take photos with each other. I don’t think it really has anything to do with Disney making money on photos, it’s more to do with us being dressed as Disney characters in a Disney park. Other guests really do get confused and can think you are employees.

You guys all look great! I miss being your mule! (With all of the pink on the site, I’m keeping it G-rated.)

Aimee! You guys are too adorable! I’ll admit, the animated gif of your hubs made me lol. Hehehe! Now I’m really dying to go to Disneyland during Halloween… Halloween is the one night a year where I turn off my cynical kid-hating heart and refuse to get annoyed with little kids running everywhere and being all crazy. Seems like a perfect time to enjoy DL. 😉

Thanks! You really should try it some year! Honestly, I don’t think I remember any really rude children, maybe Disneyland makes people too happy, or maybe we got lucky. 🙂

You guys all looked so perfect! 😀

Still adorable! love seeing more photos, and your friends as the concept Jasmine/Aladdin look top notch. 😀

Your Rapunzel and Flynn costumes are spot on! I’m very jealous!!!
Did you make your costumes?

I was there that nights and saw your group. I was was Ariel in her pink dinner dress and my friend was Aurora in her blue dress. She was so excited to spot her faires, and we are so glad she got a picture with them. All of your costumes look fantastic! Next year, she and I are going as the evil stepsisters….

here is a link to our pics if you want to see them:

I LOVE your costume! And i think it is so cool that you went as a group! I would totally want to do that!

Where did you get the fairy costumes?
My daughter is going as rapunzle and myself and her 2 grandmothers want to surprise her and go as the fairies.Any help or suggestions would be great!!!

The fairy costumes were made by AJ, Judy and Cheryll (the people wearing them.) You’ll have to find someone to commission to make you one. There are people on etsy perhaps…? Goodluck!
