GBACG Evening at the Petit Trianon

This weekend I drove up to the Bay area to attend the Greater Bay Area Costumer’s Guild’s Evening at Petit Trianon Party with AJ and Judy!  When I saw interior photos of the venue, the Bellevue Club, I knew I had to go! 18th and 19th century are my favorite historic costuming periods and it’s relatively rare to find events that are in the period and with a really great location.

You have received a coveted invitation to the Petit Trianon, Marie Antoinette’s charming and sumptuous retreat. Our evening will be a dazzling night of gaming, gambling, and gossip. Wear your best silks and lace, and dress to impress as you enjoy champagne, hors d’œuvres and desserts while hobnobbing with all those in the Queen’s circle.

I finished my 1780’s which I started May 2010 at Burnley and Trowbridge’s class. There are a few things I’d like to tweak, but I really like the gown! It’s nice not having to wear any hoops, too. (Just a little bumroll!) Not so sure about my Duchess of Devoshire-esque wig, but hey.
The photos below are either by AJ or me. :)

The inside of the pink room where we spent the evening:

Marie Antoinette (the adorable Sarah) and the Duchess of Devonshire!

I want a pink gown… D:

I love Bunny (right) :)

The always lovely Katherine with another amazing gown… and this time she made a ship hat! As in, it’s not just a ship stuck on her head, she MADE it. It’s so COOL. I’m always looking forward to what dress she’ll make next.

Another one of Katherine’s gowns!

Janice of JPRyan (Left). Her gown was this amazing Scalamandre floral silk. I was happy to meet her since I’ve enjoyed using her patterns so much!

Can you stand it? So many beautiful gowns! My photo doesn’t do the lady on the left’s gown’s color justice, she called it her creamsicle gown. Adorable!

Hand-painted stomacher! 😀 So beautiful!

Marie Antoinette and her friends holding court. :)

You can see more photos on AJ’s post, my flickr set, and GBACG photopool.

Huge thanks to Mia and Sahrye and the GBACG in general for throwing such a fabulous event. I hope there’s another one as nice a year from now so I can dream about making another crazy dress and wearing it to such a perfect event!

I would die to be a part of this!! I have always wanted to make myself an 18th century dress and wear it…and wow this place is amazing, right out of Marie Antoniette. I hope this event happens more often, I’d love to do something like that someday!

So jealous of you right now!
