Appearances: The One Ring Net Oscar Party
What can I say… I love Lord of the Rings. These costumes were made specifically for us to perform with The One Ring Circus at the One Ring Net Oscar Party.
You can find great reference pictures of Arwen’s Return of the King Coronation gown on CostumersGuide. Arwen’s Return of the King costume was made roughly the same as my Arwen’s blue costume from Lord of the Rings. The overgown is a stretch velour and has silver trim with sequins overlayed on it. The undergown was an expensive beaded fabric I found in downtown LA Fabric district. I added additional beads and trim to it. The sleeves are a lightweight textured silk. I’m wearing Arwen’s Evenstar necklace from The Nobel Collection and I borrowed a friend of mine’s metal Arwen-like crown since I didn’t have the time or money to replicate her fancy movie one.
Mitch’s Aragorn Coronation costume from Return of the King was difficult! I did the chain mail myself after Judy taught me. It’s not that hard, but time consuming. The jerkin was made of pleather and hand painted with the silver tree design. I used gold lame bias tape to bind it. The red collar was satin-stitched with arabesques in gold on my machine. Likewise, the red undershirt was satinstitched freehand in arabesque designs. The bracers were reused from his previous Aragorn costume.
