This is my art of the 9th Doctor and Rose Tyler from the Series 1 finale, still one of my favorite Doctor Who episodes! A lot of plot has happened since then so I thought it would be nice to go “back to the beginning” so to speak. (At least the beginning of “New” Doctor Who, that is.)
I think you need a Doctor.
This is for the upcoming Doctor Who 50th anniversary artshow at Meltdown comics. There are tons of talented artists involved and I’m super happy to be a part of it! The opening is November 1st, 7pm. I hope to see you there! You can see more info on Meltdown here and the Facebook event here.
This piece is made up of a pencil drawing, COPIC marker colors and then a bit of a NASA galaxy photo as an overlay in Photoshop.
This Friday Fave is Kevin Coppa!
Kevin is known for his amazing 10th Doctor cosplay from Doctor Who. Kevin not only looks a lot like the actor who plays the 10th Doctor, David Tennant, but his attention to detail in the costumes is amazing. Kevin has a gorgeous extremely accurate coat hand made by Steve Ricks. Perhaps even more awesome is his 10th Doctor suit which is made from cobbled together Gap pants just like the original Tennant one!
He’s also got those poses down!
Check out this shot by John Lynn which feels like it’s right out of the show!
Here’s a turnaround of his laboriously made spacesuit from one of my favorite Doctor Who set of episodes, The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit.
Also, check out this awesome photoshoot by photographer Eric Anderson of Kevin with alcblueyes as Rose Tyler! That’s not a photoshop, it’s a prosthetic mask!
On top of all this, besides being a nice dude, Kevin does adorable Avatar puppet videos (which are now coming on the new Korra dvd…!) Rock on, Kevin!
Yesterday I got my prizes in the mail from winning the BBC America Best River Song Cosplay Contest (with thanks again to Annie‘s photo of me!)
I won an 11th Doctor shirt (“Bow ties are cool”) an awesome sketchy TARDIS shirt from HerUniverse, the 11th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver and the Series 6 DVD set! All this stuff is super awesome, thanks BBC! I’m not sure if I can pick a favorite item but it might have to be that sketchy TARDIS shirt, isn’t that exactly what I would have chosen…? (Super happy to get to watch “The Doctor’s Wife” again on the Series 6 DVD set, too!)
Again the winning costume and photo are below and you can see more photos of my costume and information on how I put it together here.
