Flower Fairy Tulle Dresses for my Twin Toddlers!
My friend Shannon sent me a beautiful photo of little girls wearing tulle dresses and fairy wings, so I decided to make something in that vein for the twins! Then Shannon went out to a field with us and took these lovely photos! The twins had a lot of fun being flower butterflies. It’s quite a feat to get such lovely photos of the twins, too, as they are very busy and speedy and will not hold still! Photos by the awesome Shannon Cottrell of Libra Mint Photography.
For their dresses, I cobbled a sleeveless bodice pattern from B5914 with various online tutorials for making a knotted tulle skirt. For the bodice top layer, I added multiple sections of beaded white flower lace over yellow cotton. I attached yellow faux peony flowers to the bodice straps. I added a lace up panel in the back.
For the tulle skirt, after looking at online tulle tutu tutorials, I cut lots of yellow, orange and white tulle strips and cut the ends at a diagonal. I knotted them to a piece of lace which had large holes in it. I then sandwiched the lace with knotted tulle side inside the outside of the bodice and the lining and closed it up. I added a very fluffy piece of white flower trim to the top of the waist area and I added flower pins.
