The size of MSD feet are 2 1/8 x 1 inches (55mm x 25mm). When picking shoes it is advised by every website under the sun to get 1/8 of a inch (5mm) larger on at least the length to accomodate the socks that dolls typicaly wear. However, this is not a requirement, you can get a pair of shoes that are the exact measurement of the foot if you really wanted to. And remember: As your child's foot is flat, most high heels will not work as they require arched feet. Yahoo! Japan is a good source for discontinued and rare shoes. It is also usualy a good place to see how American made shoes look on MSDs (Japanese owners apparently have a tough time finding shoes too). The following four links will take you to thumbnail enhanced versions of the primary search queries for MSD items. Remember though, you need to use a bidding or shopping deputy to get items from here: http://search4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/search/auc?p=%A5%DF%A5%CB%A5%B9%A1%BC%A5%D1%A1%BC%A5%C9%A5%EB%A5%D5%A5%A3%A1%BC&auccat=2084046916&alocale=0jp&acc=jp http://search4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/search/auc?p=MSD&auccat=2084046916&alocale=0jp&acc=jp http://search4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/search/auc?p=%A5%DF%A5%CB%A3%D3%A3%C4&auccat=2084046916&alocale=0jp&acc=jp http://search4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/search/auc?p=Mini+SD&auccat=2084046916&alocale=0jp&acc=jp On that note, Volks has a working relationship with Tallina's Doll Supply. Tallina's sells both eyes and now /shoes/ to Volks stores in Japan... which makes me wonder why Tallina's does'nt cater to MSD/SD feet more carefuly nor bother to release the badass eyes they made for Dolpa 9. But I digress.. Here is a listing of shoes that may or may nor work based on the 2003 catalouge: 114- /Maybe/ 5, it seems like it would be too narrow for the mini's foot. 7452 - 6 516 /might/ fit in a size 5 147 will fit in a size 7 299 might fit in a size 7 281 might fit in a size 6 173 is a size 7 435/445 is a size 7 401 is a size 6, may or may not need socks for these for a fit. 725 is definately a size 7 And the cowboy boots is a size 6, although the shoe will be rather large on the doll. And now for shoes that are'nt usualy bound to such a sizing system, shoes that actualy tell us their distinct measurements. Most shoes will be given in milimeters, but some sites do use inches. As a reminder the foot size is 2 1/8 x 1 inches (55mm x 25mm). -Most of these shoes are a speculation on fit based on measurement. I cannot afford to buy them all for evaluation purposes, sadly enough.- The ideal size is 60mm long. 58mm may be doable as well, but it could be a snug fit. 54mm may be just a bit too small since the safe estimate for the length of the foot is 55. Shoes that display both measurements (length and width) are best, so avoid exceedingly wide looking shoes just to be safe in case the width is not provided. Also, in order to help boost their minimal masculinity, boy feet are fundamentaly wider in the arch than girl feet. However Volks was clever enough to make it so that their feet will still fit into shoes that girls can wear. Shoes that are very narrow in the back (arch to heel) will look bad on them though. Shoes made for My Attic, American Girls, and most 18+ inch dolls in general DO NOT FIT MSDs at all. Heck, they don't even work all that well on SDs, so sadly we cannot score some of the nice shoes that they make for such dolls. Trust me, most of the shoes you'll find out there are made just for the buggers. Anywho on with the companies/websites that have shoes for sale... Doll supply companies have many dealers, so there is no need to post any one specific link for them: Global: Many shoes are available in 58mm and I've seen them used on Japanese MSDs. Should fit well enough, but keep width in mind when purchasing, espicaly since the leather shoes are of a higher cost than other shoes available. Monique: They are kind enough to give the width of their shoes, making shopping easier. There is some styles in 60/27 and 58/27. This should fit rather nicely, espicaly if paired with socks. There is some in 54/27 as well... I wish you luck if you decide to buy these! Kemper: They do not make all that many shoes in MSD size, espically since they do not bother to list the width of their shoes! Be careful with shoes from this company for that reason. La Sioux: Another company Volks tends to buy from. In fact, MSD Akira's shoes are from this company, so the other shoes from recent limiteds (outside of Hewitt) may be as well. As with other companies you have to seek out a dealer to buy their merchandise. Dollspart Supply: A great site with quite a few unique styles of shoes that will fit MSDs! ...They even have ICE SKATES that would work!! Need I say anymore? http://www.dollspart.com A Dolly's World: A simpler, more crouded website. The highlight here is a pair of sneakers that would work perfectly. A lot of the shoes on here that would work fall under the additional 1/8 of a inch rule, so keep that in mind while browsing. http://adollysworld.com/ Audrey's Dolls: A dealer of a few of the major companies, as well as Masterpeice Eyes (if you choose to order those, get 15mm -boys and Mika only-, 17mm, or 19mm -girls only, unless you want really unruly eyes on your sons-). Most of the shoes here that would work are from Monique, but feel free to check everything else out here too. http://www.audreysdolls.com Custom Doll Shoes: These can be found at http://www.dollshoesinternational.co.nz/ , http://www.dollshoemaker.com/ , http://exquisitedollshoes.tripod.com/ , and http://www.goodietwoshoes.com amoungst others. They take awhile to make, may require that you send in your MSD's legs and feet, and are quite pricey... But the quality would be comprable, if not better than Volks' as well as a special pair of shoes that your child can call all their own. These are but some of many sites on the internet to get shoes for your MSD. If I find anything else spectacular I will update the FAQ accordingly. With your new knowledge of how MSD feet are sized and what shoes can fit them, go out there and dig up some great finds! Not only can this aid you on the web, but in physical doll stores as well. So good luck, and please keep your children's feet warm. Being bare-anything must be a bit chilly for them as they are made of resin =)
