1873 Victorian Polonaise Pink Floral Striped

When AJ, Liz, Judy and I went to Beijing, China we did some fabric shopping and found this beautiful floral striped silk that came in about 5 different colorways. We each found one we liked and decided to do Victorian Polonaises with them.
For mine, my main inspiration was actually an 18th century styled dress (not 19th century) from the Marie Antoinette movie. The fabric in that dress somewhat matched the feeling of my Beijing fabric and I apparently haven’t gotten tired of ruched trim yet! I also wanted to try doing a lot of ribbon roses.
The bodice/gown is Truly Victorian TV410 1873 Polonaise pattern, the skirt is TV201 1870s underskirt and the hat is Lynn McMasters’ 1870-80’s Bustle Hat Pattern View A1. I reused my undergarments (TV101 Revised Petticoat with Wire Bustle and TV170 Victorian Petticoats) from my pink and white striped 1875 Victorian. All of this worn over my trusty Laughing Moon Silverado Victorian Corset.
The whole thing went together fairly easily, I always enjoy using Truly Victorian’s patterns, they seem to fit me pretty great with very little work. The ribbon roses were a snap to make and there was much less trim on this dress than my pink and white striped 1875 (that one took forever!). The hat was a bit hard to wrap my head around but with Judy and AJ’s help I got it finished enough to wear at Dickens Fair. I’d like to fix the hat up a bit later.
