Debut: Jane Austen Evening 2012
I really like the style and colors of the 2004 Vanity Fair movie and particularly liked this long-sleeved red day dress that Becky wears to wade through the river.
I made this dress by tracing off the pattern that bauhausfrau helped me with for my Teal Evening Regency Dress. The sleeves were roughly based off the sleeves of my Blue Riding Habit. I bought the older used saree off ebay to make the dress out of. There are little mirrors, embroidery and bronze beads all over the saree. I made the dress in about a week or two, rushing to make the Jane Austen Evening January 2012 at Pasadena Masonic Hall. There’s red and gold trim at the empire waist, red silk covered buttons and dark plummy purple velvet ribbon hanging from the buttons. It closes with hooks and eyes in the back. The red ruffled trim is silk. The skirt of the dress and the reticule (bag) is lined in orange. The orange scarf was purchased off ebay, I cut it in half and sewed it end to end to make it half as wide and twice as long.
The reticule was made using this pattern.
The shoes are off-white with red accents and are from Little India in Artesia.
