Hey guys! I’m in the midst of my next costume… which is my dream costume, Belle’s yellow ball-gown from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Beauty and the Beast is a big part of why I got into animation and I’ve always loved the fairytale and I love Belle’s costumes. When my dad took me to New York to look at art colleges when I was in high-school, we went to see the original cast Broadway Beauty and the Beast together and I loved THOSE versions of the costume, too.
I waited a long time to start this costume, but now it’s time! I’m shooting to have this done by early March. I bought the fabric in early Jan. Wish me luck!
Here’s another image of Belle from the Broadway show.

The fabric! So much fun to be able to buy fabric like this, it’s the kind of super fancy stuff that one never has the use for.

Jan 23rd, first muslin.

Jan 24th, fabric layers starting to come together! It’s a gold lace overlay on interfaced gold lame, flatlined in coutil.

Jan 30th, same gold lace being used for the sleeves and the beginnings of yellow rhinestone chain being put onto the seams. Also now sleeves!

Feb 4th, More embellishment!

Feb 12th, Testing the gathering on the skirt (or Good Fairy mishap?)

Feb 13th, Getting there!

Wow Aimee, it looks fantastic! Really lovely and over the top but in a good way. And oh so perfectly Belle.
This is gorgeous! Belle was always my favourite, and you are doing an amazing job on this! Can’t wait to see the finished product 😀
