This Regency Voile gown used Fig Leaf Patterns Apron Front Dress ca. 1799 pattern and a beautiful white striped cotton voile from Pure_Silks on ebay. I made the gown to have something comfortable but lovely to wear during pregnancy to Costume College 2012, but I wanted the dress to be wearable post-pregnancy also, so a Regency gown with a drawstring gathered front was perfect! The fabric was very breathable and light, too, to add to the comfort.
The Fig Leaf pattern was based directly off a 1799 existing dress. I enjoyed all the historical information included in the pattern and the pattern went together relatively easy other than some confusion over sleeve placement. I found the pattern instructions a little hard to understand in a few places and mentions of a few placement marks which didn’t appear to actually be on the pattern were frustrating… but I love the finished gown!
The bonnet I bought as a blank from Austentation on etsy and I trimmed it with ribbon and added a ribbon rose brooch from grandmasflowergarden2010 (a gift from my friend, Judy.) I wore it with my Indian slippers I got from Little India.
The undergarment is the bodiced petticoat from the La Mode Bagatelle Regency pattern borrowed from my friend Loren.
