I was absolutely amazed the first time I saw designs from Trinity Blood. After that I did all I could do to get anything I could Trinity Blood! I love the story, the characters and especially the designs. I’d love to make more costumes from this series in the future.
This Esther Trinity Blood Costume was a challenge. For me personally, this was my first time using a snap press, and my first time sculpting, making molds and casting resin on my own.
The two front and two back seams of the dress are completely “snapped” and can be unsnapped all the way up, so in that way the dress is functional just like a real garment. The dress is fully lined and partially interfaced with bias tape trim. The underskirt lace was hand dyed with a paintbrush (not dip-dyed!) which was an extremely time intensive process, but the results were fabulous! The lace has little pearls and sequins on it in white, and has an underskirt and petticoat.
Most of the silver peices on the costume were sculpted in clay and then a mold was made of them, and then they were cast in resin. Each resin peice then got at least 4 different levels of paint to get the aged silver look.
I added long wefts to the wig and cut them for a more natural look.
