I had seen some Utena, but had never been able to afford to buy the rest of the series to watch it. I was given the last two box sets of Utena at Anime Overdose, and after watching that and then reading the manga I fell in love with Utena! I also really really adore hot-pink right now and uniforms in general, so doing the manga version of her outfit seemed perfect for me! “Shocking Pink” version of the boys uniform due to Utena’s impeccable good taste!
This outfit is also possible due to my friend Susan teaching me more good tailoring and sewing techniques, so it’s the first outfit I’ve sucessfully fully lined and done topstitching and that sort of thing on. I’m really happy with the look and fit overall, but I’d like to lower the waist a little and I need to style my wig some more.
There are pictures of two versions of this outfit, the “not as good one” has a poofier whiter skirt, while the final version has a softer light pink one.
