Sakura Season 2011
I adore Yuuko and she has such a fabulous wardrobe! She wears many different kimono in the series, and so I decided to find some vintage kimono and accessories that would suit Yuuko (based on what she wears in the series).
This is the second time I’ve done a coordinate based on Yuuko.
I was catching up reading XXXHoLic manga (still not entirely caught up) and Volume 12 had a pretty traditional kimono coordinate for Yuuko sitting under cherry blossoms, and I thought… I have a lot of stuff like that, I should just break it out for Annie and I to wear for sakura, so that we have something pretty to wear (even though we didn’t have time to MAKE something). I think it worked out really well actually, and I was really proud of dressing Annie up as Sakura, too. I don’t really dress people other than myself in kimono often, so I was all mother hen about getting us both dressed, pretty well, in about an hour.
All the stuff we are wearing is from my kimono stash, the exception being the mokonas, our matching sakura fans and Yuuko’s base wig and Sakura’s wig (which are Annie’s). Funny story about the wig… I basically told Annie the only thing she needed to provide was her wig and socks… but then the night before, I could not fo rthe LIFE of me find my Yuuko wig. I showed up with some makeshift (horrible) thing at Annie’s and she’s all, “Oh, I totally have a Yuuko wig”. So you see… someone was smiling on me. The hair extension is from my trip to Asakusa, Tokyo… the kanzashi for both of us are real maiko kanzashi I bought in Kyoto. My obiage has silver butterflies on it and both Annie and my collars have embroidered sakura on them. I wore this obidome. Even my tabi socks have tiny sakura on them. (which you can’t see… haha… but I care that all this is there.) Annie and I had wanted to do a kimono Yuuko and Sakura for a while, and we still will probably eventually do one that requires work on our part… but this makes me very happy.
The shoes are geta with red straps.
