Tanabata is the one day a year when the lovers Hikoboshi and Orihime can be together. Normally they are separated by the Milkyway (the heavenly river). The big octopus-like streamer decorations (Fukinagashi) are the fabric that Orihime weaves. It’s also a holiday where people “wish for skills” on slips of paper.

This is my birthday weekend so it was really fun to be able to go out with a big group of friends and enjoy a festival.

I wore my new yukata that I made recently out of some beautiful stash fabric I had sitting around for probably about 8 years. I love boldly striped kimono but I don’t have hardly any so I was very happy to wear this. I also am wearing a removable lace collar and a hot pink heko-obi combined with my normal yukata obi.

We brought our twins with us for a while.
