I’m excited to share these Thumbelina Twin Birthday Geranium Dresses with you!
My twin girls are going to be one year old in a few weeks, wow! I wanted to make something that went together beautifully but quickly for their birthday. After doing some review reading online, it looked like Made By Rae’s Geranium dress pattern would be perfect, and the internet was right. These little dresses went together easily and quickly. If I hadn’t added a bunch of embellishment and been making two of them, I bet I could have made it in a day. As it was, making two frou-frou versions, it took about 2-3 days of naps to complete them.
The white crown lace is from my trip to Okadaya in Japan. The red lace is from fabric.com and the trims are from etsy TreasureBayFabric and TrimKo. There’s also some red rickrack on the bodice to skirt seam. The flower buttons on the back are vintage ones I bought at Costume College. The Thumbelina fabric is a Japanese cotton by Kokka that I got a few years ago. It’s one of my favorites from my stash, but at least I used it for something special! I also embroidered my daughters’ first name initials on the skirts.
